About Me
I grew up on a small farm in Brentwood, California where we raised meat goats, pigs,
cattle, and many other typical livestock. I spent 10 years in my local 4-H, and 4 years in
FFA, gutted my first deer at age 11, and tanned my first goat hide at age 14. Over the
years butchering our own livestock, I became fascinated with preserving the skin and
skulls and pursued the art of taxidermy.
Along with my retired parents, we now raise many varieties of game birds, Fallow deer,
goats, club lambs and more.
Now, at age 39, I am a single mother of two young girls and finally getting my
taxidermy into a full time business. I entered three mounts in the World Taxidermy
Championships in Reno, NV. in April of 2007, placing third place on all my mounts. At
the 2008 and 2009 California Taxidermy Art Show, I placed high in all my catagories,
taking home several blue ribbons and trophies. Since then, I have expanded my range
of mounts from exotic mammals and birds, to common and domestic animals.
I will be moving into my own new studio and showroom this spring of 2010. The
location will be central and easy to find, as well as open to the public. I welcome you
come in and see what I have to offer.
I have all my own equipment to prepare skins for mounts in house, including my own
fleshing machines and auto pressure tanner. This cuts down on the time needed out
sourcing skins to tanneries, making my turn-around time much faster.
Taxidermy is an art that can only be learned by doing. I have been schooled by world
class taxidermists in several fields of the art. Attending and competiting in shows at
the state, national and world levels have prepared me to offer a quality of work that
surpasses those who have not explored the ever-changing world of taxidermy. I use the
newest equipment and supplies the industry has to offer.
